Quote Comments Module Clone/Duplication

Hey everyone - I’m very new to HubSpot and I’ve just started messing around with my Quote Templates. For whatever reason, unlike most of the form builders, the Quote Template editor lacks a lot of customizability in its UI. . .

I basically just want to be able to “Clone” the “Comments from Buyer” default section and/or the “Terms” section so that there is a Personalization Token that allows the Sales person to enter a few more bits of data during the quote generation. For arguments sake, lets call them “Study Details,” “Timepoints,” and “Notes for Protocol Development.” At the moment, I am kind of just stuck trying to pile all of this into the “Comments” section and I’d love to organize it a bit further. I don’t need any high level customization, I just want to mimic the two editable objects/modules that are pre-entered in the most simple way possible.

Any input on this would be greatly appreciated! I’m not exactly a coder by nature but I’m not completely inept. . . If I know where to find the modules and a bit about what elements I would need to edit I recon I could figure it out.

Hey @BEcclefield, welcome to HubSpot,

Thank you for posting in our Community!

As this** knowledge base article mentions here**:

Depending on your HubSpot subscription, you can customize quote templates as follows:

  • In Sales Hub Professional and Enterprise accounts, users with Super admin permissions can create customized quote templates that can be used when creating quotes. To match your business needs, you can modify the template’s design and content with editable modules.
  • Using HubSpot’s free or Sales Hub Starter tools, you can edit the theme settings applied to the default quote templates included in your account but cannot create customized quote templates.

You can customize it through our Design Manager tool by using custom code. You might need a developer’s help to create or customize a quote template.

Inviting our top experts, @OPerek-Clark, @elizheleva, and @himanshurauthan, do you have any recommendations for @BEcclefield?

Thank you,

Hey Pam,
Thanks for the reply!
I’m using Sales Hub Professional with Super admin just to confirm. The off the shelf template customizer allows you to turn off and on the visibility of certain modules, and add some “baked in” text, but it doesn’t allow you to add new areas, duplicate modules such as Comments or Terms and Conditions, or move the order of the modules around on any of the 3 templates that are provided out of the box. I believe that all of this can be handled through the source code – I’m not trying to change the “theme” or the fonts/colors, I’m trying to add in additional information sections in the same way that Comments and Terms & Conditions are layed out – ideally there is a dialogue box our sales team can enter additional information through that comes through on the “Use Quote Template” UI.
Hopefully that helps clarify exactly what my need is – when googling for these needs I tend to find a lot of custom quote designers who charge $7,000-$10,000 to develop a full HTML/CSS custom quote format for businesses – I don’t have that in my budget this year and I’d love to learn how to make relatively simple changes to the underlying code if its possible.
In the long run – it would be great if the modules could be customized a bit further through the off the shelf software.
Best regards,
Brian

Hey @BEcclefield

Please correct me if I’m wrong, but if you are trying to change the way you create a quote template by adding more input fields like comments to the buyer and terms and conditions, then I’m afraid that we cannot change the quote creation interface. You could only take inputs in those two fields, but you can have conditional modules or maybe some logic to break the inputs and show them based on your design.
If you need any help with quote design, we offer a quote template design in USD 500–USD 700.

I hope this helps.
