Question

Hi everyone, I’m currently learning SEO and had a question about technical SEO, specifically XML sitemaps and crawling.

These areas can be quite technical and may involve development work. As someone focusing more on the digital marketing side of SEO, is it acceptable to rely on developers to handle sitemap implementation and technical setup, while I focus on content, keywords, and on-page optimization?

Or is it important for marketers to go deeper into the technical side as well?

I’d really appreciate your insights. Thanks!

Hi @Overcomer,

From my experience, it’s incredibly beneficial to understand the technical side of SEO. That being said, as long as you know enough to identify/understand the impact of those technical SEO elements and can bring someone else in to support the actual technical implementation, it’s possible to still be an effective SEO.
So in short, yes, acceptable, but the more you know on the technical side the better off you’ll be long term. There are a lot of tools that can help you get by while you bring other implementers in as well.
