Question about getting my app certified

Hello,

I have a question about app certification process.

We have our app listed in Hubspot marketplace, and now we would like to get it certified by Hubspot.

When I log in to my Hubspot account and go to App Marketplace → Listings, I see our app there and also “Certify app” button appears on our app (which, according to info here means that our app is eligible to apply.

Next step is to create demo video to submit certification application. And according to information in website video should include:

  • A brief overview of your integration
  • The installation process and any additional set up steps or requirements
  • A walkthrough of the post-installation customer experience, including:
    • Tasks performed
    • Data flowing to and from HubSpot
    • APIs used to push/pull data
    • HubSpot UI components (CRM extensions, timeline events, workflow extensions) your app integrates with or extends
    • The uninstall flow

But our video does not include exaclty all information mentioned above (you can see our demo video here).

So my questions would be:

  • If I would apply for certification with this video, and application will be rejected - does this mean we will need to wait for 6 months in order to apply again? (because in in minimums certification requirements it is written that: Your app must not have applied for and failed to achieve certification or have triggered any unresolved support escalations in the last six months.)
  • If demo video does not include all the information mentioned above - is there any chance to get certified? If no - we would create another video.

Maybe someone has gone through this process and knows how it works?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Karolis

The demo video does not need to be exhaustive, rather illustrative of the overall integration. We will not reject for minor video issues.

The video is way less important when compared to things like API errors, rate limits, or scope issues. You should focus on those things primarily.

We don’t just ’reject” apps without speaking with the developer, explaining the issues and allowing them to address the problem.

The only time we would require you to reapply in 6 months if there was a hard requirement that was not able to be met within 60 days of the application. This rarely happens.

We encourage you to apply and we will work with you to make this a success story.

Hi Dennis,

Thanks for your reply and explanation!

Karolis

Hello,

I have applied to app certification more than a week ago, but I have not received any update about this. Maybe someone knows, when I could expect to get any feedback or update about this process?

Thanks in advance!
