Hi,
We use Hubspot scoring to measure lead quality, where engagement leads to higher scoring and disqualifications/bounces etc. lead to point subtraction. Any lead scored 100 becomes an MQL and receives a new lead object for our sales to follow up.
The issue we have is that Hubspot automatically creates a lead object for every lead that scores >100, even if that contact already has a lead object. This causes duplicate leads to be added to the leads workspace, making it difficult for sales to keep track. Is there a way to prevent this?
Thanks in advance.
I came to the forums to post a very similar issue and found this post made today. I am also experiencing an issue of our new contacts having a duplicate Lead object created. However, my best guess so far is that, for us, this happens when they book a meeting.
Our prospects come in through an interest form, and upon submitting it, they are invited to book a meeting on our calendar. So I’ve observed that contacts who submit a form at 12:01pm and then book a meeting at 12:02pm will similarly have a Lead object (created 12:01pm) and then an unnecessary second identical Lead object (at 12:02pm).
However, the issue is that nowhere in Hubspot does there seem to be a setting determining when a Lead object gets created (to my knowledge). There seems to be implicit rules governing this, but I have not spoken to anyone who knows what the rules are.
It seems like the Lead object is a new feature whose functionality is not fully understood even within Hubspot yet, and that has bugs yet to be wrinkled out. I hope there is a solution to this specific challenge out there as it’s currently impractical to use otherwsie.
