Please Stop Changing Things!

Our 1 problem with HubSpot is the constant tinkering with the UI. As a sales organization, we create guides for how to do things in HubSpot using tools like Scribe and Loom. Every time HubSpot changes where something is located or the steps necessary to complete a task, we have to redo all of that content, only to have it change again in a few months.

Our most used feature of HubSpot is email templates, and the process of adding images just changed again. It is no longer drag and drop, where you can select multiple files that you will use in the email template at once. There is a new pop-up where you can only select one file at a time. Also, the image resizing used to show pixels… now it doesn’t unless you click off of the image and then back on it again several times (these may be bugs, but it is the current state of things at the time of this post).

The process for adding custom fields in Properties has changed substantially (and is WAY worse) in the last several months. So on and so forth. As the business owner, I have to spend time each day trying to relearn and reteach the tools we use in HubSpot.

Please STOP all the tinkering, which has in no way improved the UI. It gets worse with every change. Updates are to be expected, and, believe me, there are many things in HubSpot that require too many clicks. But the changes we are experiencing are ADDING to those clicks, not reducing them. Every change makes HubSpot a worse tool to use than it was the day before.

Just wanted to share our feedback, as I’m sure we are not alone in our frustration.

Absolutely, I couldn’t agree more! I just got off a call with a internal Marketing person and we had this same conversation. And that is why I googled “Why is HubSpot making so many changes?” and found this link.

We also create docs to train new employees. We require well-documented processes, and Hubspot’s constant changes are very frustrating. I also have found that many changes have actually made it unintuitive and I then I have to research to find out what has changed and how I can now do something that was previously quite easy. We simply don’t have time to constantly re-train people and update documentation.

We pay for a product, and we need it to remain fairly static for a period of time. I realize that you want to keep moving forward, but you need to better communicate UI changes, or keep current functionality while also implementing the new. I also realize you want to maximize profit and continually charge for more features. IF I am already an existing customer and have access to a feature, IT is extremely frustrating to find that a change will now require me to purchase more seats to continue to operate in the same way. This should require an agreement change.

On the positive side, I have noticed a couple of changes that did help. Like if you are a Super-Admin, and you are viewing a Compay or Contacts page, often times there is an icon in the upper right corner that allow you to jump right into edit mode, rather than have to navigate to Settings - Objects etc. That is an example of a helpful that did not change current functionality. Gross changes to the UI must be VERY helpful and resolve a problem or they are unwanted, or minimally should be optional.
