Currently, the design manager experience for making templates, modules, landing pages, etc. is unintuitive, and often riddled with roadblocks when trying to develop. I appreciate the new development documentation that has come out, which is a step in the right direction. At the same time, it highlights how complicated it is to develop templates in hubspot. Our team is considering switching to a different service just to build landing pages because customizing hubspot templates is so laborous.
Here’s what we’re looking for in a page builder system:
- Allow modules to be dropped inside other modules
- Have 3 basic modules: WYSIWYG, Image/Video, and Container. Every other module you could want is just a combination of these 3 basic modules. Remove the “sections” thing.
- Enable all styling options for the container module, such as spacing, border, sizing, positioning, display type, background-color, background-image, etc. (basically ALL available css properties.)
- Allow for switching between multiple breakpoints and have the styles from the previous breakpoint cascade to the next, while allowing you to tweak it for the selected breakpoint.
This would allow you to make any landing page you want and the experience would be so much simpler. You could take a stylized set of modules and save it as a new module. This would put HubSpot on the same level as other visually-edited CMS page builders.
