Hi,
How can a personalization token be adapted to several languages within 1 e-mail?
Hi,
How can a personalization token be adapted to several languages within 1 e-mail?
Hi @DJ241,
It cannot, unfortunately. Properties do not support public facing translations. You would either have to create smart rules to work around this limitation, if that’s feasible. Or, alternatively, create custom properties for each language and use a workflow to populate them based off the original property.
For salutation properties, for example, the best route is to have an English, Spanish, French, German etc property - and the. To use the correct one in an English, Spanish, French, German email.
Best regards!
Thank you for your answer Karsten. Then a follow-up question:
I have an email in French, the email settings are in French and I changed the account settings also to French. Why do I still get the personalization token in English within the email? The company properties are showing labels in French too. Do I oversee a setting?
@DJ241 what exactly is the personalization token for? It Bly default properties have translations, custom ones don’t.* Are you referring to what the token (the small rectangle) says in the editor or the values that display when the email is sent?
* For property labels, there is currently a beta to add CRM translations, this can be found under product updates (menu in the top right corner of HubSpot) and should move out of beta soon. This would allow for adding translations, although I’m not sure if that beta extends to the email editor.
Thank you so much for your answer. Then a follow-up question:

@DJ241 again, could you please specify what exactly the personalization token is for? The reply you just shared is the same as before, with German instead of French.
I’m talking about the personalization token ‘Industry’, in German ‘Branche’. A default option offered by HubSpot. When I create a preview version of the email with an example contact, then it shows the text in English instead of in German.
@DJ241 are you referring to the label of the property (“Industry”) or the value displayed (e.g. “Automotive”)? Could you please share a screenshot?
@DJ241 so we’re talking about the values, not the label. Values are not translated. That’s expected behavior. HubSpot displays exactly what is set up in the property settings.
If you want a translation here, you would have to set up another custom property and fill it with a workflow, then use the localized property for that language, as I had described above with the example of the salutation.
(Don’t shoot the messenger.)
@DJ241 are both screenshots you shared referencing the same object? If the value is “Versicherungen”, it should display “Versicherungen” - but there are industry fields on contact object and company object. If you’ve translated the contact object property but displaying the company object property value, that would explain the discrepancy.
@DJ241 it shouldn’t, no. Unfortunately, troubleshooting this requires a paid subscription. You could do a 14 day Professional trial to have this investigated. It doesn’t look like expected behavior.
Thank you Karsten. I will do so.
