Opt in, how to do it?

Hi guys!
I imported a contact list from gmail into Hubspot.
This list has clients, non clients, people I talked to in the last years. In other words, it has everything.
I would like to send an e-mail to these contacts asking them to authorize me to send e-mail marketing campaigns. My goal is to segment within all these e-mails those who are interested in relating to my company in a commercial way (want to do business). How can I do this?

I followed an opt-in configuration tutorial, but I don’t find the option to send to my list only “publish”.

Can anyone who has been through this situation help me? thanks!

Hi @yuribtonani,

For this type of opt-in email send, you might want to review HubSpot’s acceptable use policy and consult your legal team. In some countries, these types of email sends are a violation of local legislation. Put simply, in some countries if you do not have the permission to send emails, you cannot send an email to ask for permission.

If you do find that you’re in the green, there is a great HubSpot article on this containing step-by-step instructions: Run a permission pass campaign in HubSpot

There are a few things to keep in mind:

A reminder to the acceptable use mentioned above, “You should not use a permission pass campaign to gain opt-in for a contact who hasn’t yet provided it directly to your brand.”

The article does not offer any legal advice, your legal team is the best resource to give you compliance information for your specific situation.

You can find examples for these types of campaigns right here on the community: Top Permission Pass campaigns

Hope this helps!

Wow Karsten! Thanks a lot!

Just a one doubt, at this point to create the CTA button to confirm their subscripts, what is the link should I use? I mean, where i can gerenate a link that with someone clicks automatically put them as a subscriber? Sounds silly, I know.. but im new to it.. sorry about it

THanks!

Hi @yuribtonani,

Whenever you add a link, you can change what exactly it links to. Select “Email subscription link” > “Subscription information”.

opt-in.gif

A link click will update the recipient’s property Marketing email confirmation status to “User clicked confirmation”. If you want to set a subscription for these contacts automatically, you’d have to do that with a workflow (e.g. enrolling contacts who have received the email and whose Marketing email confirmation status is equal to any of “User clicked confirmation”).

Hope this helps!

Hi Karsten!

do you know if is possible to also have two functions on one button, eg it link to a website and they opt in at the same time?

Cheers!
