[Now Live] Associations Limits Increase

What is it?

We’ve increased the number of associations you can make between one object type to another from 10,000 to 50,000. For most object type pairs (e.g., contact and company), you will now be able to create more associations than ever before and leverage those associations across HubSpot.

Why does it matter?

Historically, if you tried to create more than 10,000 associations to a single object, associations would stop being created. Now you’ll be able to associate up to 50,000 records to a single object (like 50,000 contacts to a single company!) and use those associations across the HubSpot platform.

These associations will be visible on record pages and can be used across HubSpot’s workflows, lists, and reports to drive your business and support your growth.

How does it work?

You can continue to associate objects as you normally would (via API, import, or the HubSpot UI). The only difference is that with this update you’ll now be empowered to associate up to 50,000 records to a single object.

Please note that there are a small subset of association types that will not leverage the new association limit.

Who gets it?

This feature is now available to all customers using Starter, Professional, and Enterprise editions of HubSpot’s products.

@kvlschaefer checking for clarity if the limit for Contacts to Deals (number of deals a contact can have associated) was raised from 10k to 50k or if the limit is still 10k?

One of our clients received a notification that they were at 80% of the 10,000 limit for a contact (which ended up being spam and a nice way to flag), but now we’re wondering what the actual limit is?

Hi @Jnix284,

Thanks for reaching out!
Glad to hear that the association limit alert helped your client identify a spam contact :slightly_smiling_face:

Presently, the 50k associations does not apply to contact-deal associations

  • 10,000 associated deals per contact
  • 1,000 associated contacts per deal, ticket, and engagement

Our full policy on association limits can be found in this document here (ctrl or apple + F and look for CRM Record Association Limits).

I will provide feedback to the internal team about making this product update (and accompanying KB clearer) regarding the association limits.
Hope these resources help! Please don’t hesitate to comment back if you have any questions :slightly_smiling_face:

Best,
Kristen

Thank you @kvlschaefer, that is the breakdown we were looking for, appreciate you sharing it with me and for the quick response! :raising_hands:

Good afternoon, thank you for the details above. Could you verify the limit on email associations? One of my clients received this message today “The following COMPANY objects have reached 80% usage of COMPANY_TO_EMAIL associations” and when I look at the documentation it says email is excluded.

10,000 associated engagements (excluding email) per contact, company, deal, ticket, and custom object

@kvlschaefer Is there any plans to up this in the future as a paid feature?

My company cleans aircraft and we do business with a provider of fractional ownership planes. They are a large account and we do thousands of cleanings a year for them. We have quickly hit the company-deal and company-invoice limit. This seems like an arbitrary restriction and it’s really a roadblock for us to grow with HubSpot.

What is the recommended way to handle this? Do we need to start offloading data to a warehouse? I have been pushing for HubSpot to be our single source of truth but this makes that difficult.

Are there any plans to lift this restriction in the near future? How have people addressed this in the past?

@Bell1jl76 Sounds like you are doing well to be hitting thoes limits.

As a workaround I would create an Note via the API on each company with the deal and invoice once the deal and invoice is 6/12/24 months old with the links to the invoice and deal.

A warehouse is another good option, it really depends what you need the historical data for. If it’s mainly archive data, then the note properbly work for you. If it’s reporting and anlaysis than a warehouse and Bi solution will be the better option, especially as HS reporting is pretty limited.

There should really be a lift in the limit and definitly the ability to pay for a higher limit, it’s a pretty low limit.

I understand there was recently an additional increase between company and contact to 200K. I just want to throw it out there that neither of these increases help our company. We need Deals to Company and Contact increased, and beyond that any increases don’t even come into play for us. We’re juggling de-associating deals, not contacts to companies, and it is no fun. Is there ever going to be an increase in Deals to anything for associations?
