Multiple Pipelines causing targets to be incorrect

Hi all

I am trying to track our individual sales targets and am coming across an issue:

We have a pipeline for the US Sales Team. When a deal is won / closed; this then moves over to the US Account Management Team pipeline and the deal owner changes.

Therefore the Sales Team individual targets show no deals won / closed and no value attributed to each of them.

Any tips / suggestions how best to manage as we do not obviously want duplicate deals as overall reports will be incorrect? I am sure it is a very obvious answer but I can’t see it!
Thanks!

@DWhite5

Great question have you set any workflow for this if yes can you share a screenshot of that workfllow ?

Hey @DWhite5 I probably would create multiple deals if I’m being honest, as long as they’re in seperate pipelines. I’d consider the deal of a “sale” to be different to the deal of an account manager upsell.

I generally consider deals to be quite transactional in nature and records with a specific lifetime. I wouldn’t consider them a perpetual record like an account would be. If the deal is closed won by the sales team I’d consider this the end of life for that record. Moving it to closed won in the sales pipeline. That’s the end of the sales deal and the end of the process.

I’d then created a new deal in the account management pipeline for the next stage of the process (be this upsell, retention or whatever sales your acc. man team are working). Realistically it’s a different process/product so should get its own deal.

A deal is a single record, so if you’re moving a single deal from one pipeline to the other, it doesn’t exist in the initial pipeline. You can really track is as closed won in one pipeline if it has been moved and still open in another pipeline.

I’d create a workflow that checks if there’s a deal closed won in sales, then when that happens create a new deal in the acc. man pipeline for the account management stage of the customer lifecycle and assign it out accordingly too.

For reports, if you’re reporting on specific pipelines, these really shouldn’t have any overlap. But depending on how you currently report, you may want to update your reports.
