Multiple BU and Spam

My organisation has multiple business units for different brands within our organisation. We have set up individual email sending domains under each Business unit. What we are seeing is I coudl send a marketing email from one business unit with their own ESD and the recipient marks this is spam. We then have the same recipient present in a different BU because they subscribe to content there also and when we attempt to send them a marketing email (Different BU and different ESD) the email does not get sent as it says previously marked as spam. Is this the correct outcome as I believed that if the email was sent from a seperate BU with a different ESD then it would not carry the spam record.

It is completely possible that someone may mark one brand as Spam (obvioulsy we try not to get to this stage) but woudl want to still recieve content from another brand.

Does this mean that despite seperate BU and ESD the spam record gets saved against the contact and therefore will affect all coms being sent from HubSpot?

Hi @SJamieson75 --

I’m not entirely sure, but it seems like the issue might be related to the shared IP address. Are you using the dedicated IP address to send emails? Also, if the contact has bounced globally, they won’t receive any emails from any HubSpot portal.
Thanks.

I haven’t noticed this before, but I believe your reasoning is correct here as a Contact should exist as 2 different records, one for each BU as if you had 2 separate Hubspot accounts. I would raise this to Hubspot support via a ticket to get their response.

Thanks for your feedback
