When drafting sales emails using Breeze, I’ve noticed it has a tendency to use the more “natural” (in non-sales contexts) self-centric pronouns (“I” and “we”). Having sat through hours of HubSpot training and read countless books on good sales practice, I’m sure we’d all agree that good sales emails should be customer-centric.
I tried re-prompting Breeze to rewrite the email from the customer’s perspective, but it very literally rewrote each sentence starting “You…”, “You…”, which is clearly VERY artificial!
HubSpot support suggested trying a prompt along the lines of “Rewrite this sales email with a customer-centric, benefit-led angle. Focus on the recipient’s goals, challenges and outcomes. Do not begin every sentence with ‘you’. Vary sentence structure naturally, avoid repetitive ‘I’ statements, and keep my existing tone and phrasing.”
It would be great if Breeze could do the above by default, i.e. incorporate elements of what HubSpot’s own Academy training drills into people about email copy. Rather than just writing good, natural emails, it could create something that improves the overall quality of sales emails sent by all users. This could include things like:
- Strong opening line
- Writing from the customer’s perspective (“you”, rather than “I”)
- Including a specific, clear question or CTA towards the end of the email
Another thing HubSpot support mentioned was setting a Brand Voice. I’ll be doing this shortly, but clearly Brand Voice and any improvements to the default copy Breeze produces would need to play nicely with one another. My suggestion would be that the default output of Breeze should be sales email copy aligned with the HubSpot ethos and Academy training suggestions. Brand Voice should supersede/overrule this, so anything produced by Breeze that does not align with Brand Voice should be replaced.
Hope this makes sense, and can be helpfully implemented for the benefit of all ![]()
