Limiting Product Visibility

Hi Hubspot team,

This idea is to help marketers build streamlined sales processes for sales users. As a product manager with dedicated sales team, I don’t want the sales team to be able to pull all the other products (SKU’s) into their quotes or deals. If you could add the “products” module into the permissions set and allow us to create views of products based on folder structures, this could easily be rectified.

For example, our products are pulled in through quickbooks. This pulls in every SKU. I’ve created a folder system within my “products” section. There are only two folders that I want my sales team to have access to. By doing this, it will eliminate quoting errors.

If I could limit the products viewable by teams, then those teams could only view the appropriate SKU’s when creating a deal - eliminating the potential of selecting an incorrect SKU and thus, an invalid quote. Invalid quotes would be frustrating to every member of the process. Please let me know if you have questions on this request or if I can elaborate more on any given part.

In addition there should be a way to edit the permissions of product properties just like you can with other object properties. For example, cost on a product should never be visible to the sales team. That should remain for managment eyes only. For this reason, we’re not able to use this property because we need to be able to restrict access to “unit cost”.

Yes this is very much needed. We want only the products available in that region to be available to that regional team. It is causes mistakes and confusion for them to see all products.
