IP Address for A Name

Hello,

Currently my domain is active for https://www.[domain].com . However, if i simply try to go to [domain].com, it doesn’t work. I thought I needed to set up a redirect so that no “www” would redirect to the “www” - but, go daddy informed me that though the domain has a CNAME record, it doesn’t currently have one for A and I need to set up an entry for the A Name record. They said Hubspot should provide an IP address or some information that I need to tenter into their “Data” field.

Does anyone know where I can find this information so that both www.domain.com and domain.com both resolve to my website?

Thank you!
Jeff

Hello @JMaldavir, thank you for providing this information!

I want to invite our top experts to this conversation @Phil_Vallender @Aakar @MrJustinGivens any recommendations to @JMaldavir matter?

Thank you,

Pam

hey @JMaldavir, the non-www version is called the root domain.

Here’s the knowledge base article about how to connect domains, just in case you need it.

In short, you need to connect a “subdomain” and leave it blank.

Subdomain: the subdomain is the first part of the domain name. For example, in blog.mywebsite.com, blog is the subdomain. Leave this field blank to connect and host content on the root domain.

When you do that, HubSpot will give you the IP address(es) to add for the A record.

If you have any issues, please don’t hesitate to let us know here.

Hi @MrJustinGivens - thanks for your response and sharing the link to the knowledge base article. As of now, I am on the free version of HubSpot so I believe I can only have one connected domain. I’m on the settings page > Tools > Website > Domains & URLs. I don’t see an option to edit any of my existing settings for my domain. There is an “Edit” button next to the primary domain, but the only two choices are “Update domain security settings” and “Disconnect”. The Update domain security settings link only leads to a slide out window where I can adjust HTTPS and Security Headers.

Do I need to disconnect the domain and then start over again, by entering my same domain but keep the subdomain field blank instead of adding “www”? Or, is there a way to access and edit the existing settings? Also, if that’s the route I need to take, will it take time for these changes to propogate?

Thanks!

Jeff

Our portal, we have the root domain (non-www) setup as a redirect domain.

With the free account, can you add a redirect domain enter only your root domain (without www) and you could receive the DNS details.

Let me know.

Thank you @MrJustinGivens. I just set up a redirect from the root domain to www and that did the trick! Thank you!
