Insert menu bug - page scrolls back to top when using Insert options

I think there’s a bug with the Insert dropdown in the Knowledge Base tool.

Whenever I try to insert anything from the Insert dropdown (e.g. special character, anchor, callout, etc) the page jumps all the way back to the top to open the menu. Then I have to scroll all the way back down to where I was writing to actually insert it.

It didn’t behave like this previously, the menu used to open in place.

Just some notes:

  • The bug only happens on options under Insert dropdown
  • It does not happen when inserting emojis or links
  • It is happening consistently across KB articles
  • I’ve tested in multiple browser sessions (incognito) but still happens

This makes editing really slow, especially in long articles, because every insert turns into a scroll > insert > scroll cycle.

Hey @EWalt1 - thank you so much for posting in the Community and providing all of this context!
Can you please also confirm whether or not this behavior has impacted any other user(s) in your portal? I just tested this process in my own portal, and I don’t see the behavior. I’m using Chrome, for reference.
Are you able to provide a screen record of this process so that we can pull other Community experts into the conversation to try and assist here?

Thanks for flagging this — that definitely sounds like a frustrating experience. It could be a recent regression with the Insert dropdown behavior. I’d suggest reporting it through the support channel if you haven’t already, and maybe include a quick screen recording so the devs can see how the page jumps. Hopefully they can get a fix out soon!
