Identifying when a property was changed/updated

Hi HS Comunity,

Have an interesting Q, that may also be helpful for others.

Put straight - is there a way to know a date or timestamp when a certain property was updated (or changed value).

I’m working on Companies mainly, and was wondering if there’s a way to illustrate when a change to a specific property was made.

For example, let’s imagine we want to create table report that shows how a specific custom property (like “YYY”) was changed for a certain contact/company. In the first column we’d have “company name”, in the scond one “YYY”, and in the third one a timestamp (or a date) when a certain value was given to the property (the property “YYY” was updated). Have you had an experience creating something similar?
P.S I’m using custom “companny stage” properties instead of “lifecycle stages” - and I would love to know when a certain stage was given to a company. I know Lifecycle Stages has some built-it automations from HS, but that’s why I’m specifically asking about some other, random properties, even manual ones.

Hi @GShelia12,

Short answer: No, no inside of HubSpot. Except for a few specific default cases in the analytics section, reports only take into account the current value of a property.

However, there is an option to easily export this information. You wouldn’t have the HubSpot report builder as a visualization tool but the information is all there, laid out nicely by company record, date and values changed. To access this report, navigate to Settings > Properties > hover over the property > click More > Export property history.

Hope this helps!

Is it possible to do this report for more than one property at a time? I want a simple report that would audit the properties, last time used or how much used across contacts.

Is there a way to export or view this information for multiple properties?

I’m looking for a way to quickly identify all deal records that had recent changes to any of a long list of properties.

Does anyone know anything, whether it’s a report or some combination of things, that would allow an end result like “include all deals that had updates to property A, B, or C in the last week”
Using the deal property “last modified date” itself unfortunately isn’t an option since I need to exclude several properties from being considered as well.

Edit: more info on what the end goal is - For me personally, notifications about property updates would actually be even better than a report. As an admin, my ideal solution would be to have a setting that allows me to get an email whenever there’s a new entry in the property history timeline. There are types of changes I need to review, so I’ve actually built this whole complicated system of workflows that does send me these emails, but it’s so enticing that the information is right there in the property history already, if something could just send a notification when that history is updated, similar to the notifications people can choose to get when a task is assigned to them or they’re mentioned on a record, it could save SO MUCH workflow and custom property building.

Karsten’s solution works well for that date. I got some cool ways to expand that. For me, I wanted a report for the last date the lead status was updated. Follow these steps:

  1. Export property “XYZ” history. To access this report, navigate to Settings > Properties > hover over the property > click More > Export property history. My example was contact property “lead status”.
  2. Create a new custom property for the date change. My example was contact property “lead status change date”
  3. Import your data history, assigning the change date to your new custom property.
  4. Create a workflow that automatically updates the new property “lead status chnage date” any time the property “lead status” is known. Be sure to allow enrollment. Any time “lead status” is updated, it will reenroll contact into the workflow, capturing this for you. The first time you run this, be sure to NOT enroll the current contacts or it will overwrite your recent import.
  5. Build your report in HubSpot. BOOM! You got exactly what you were asking for :slightly_smiling_face:

This has 100% worked for me today - i’m thrilled! thank you!

awesome, glad it helped! I’ve used this for several properties thru the years now with different clients

"Export property history." Is not available anymore. And if you select all properties, you don’t see any options.

this would be super useful from within the portal!

Hey,
Few years back but if you’re still on this (or anyone landing here from search):

The export workaround Karsten pointed to is solid for getting the raw data, but you lose the in-HubSpot visualization, and it’s a manual pull each time. For the workflow-based “lead status change date” trick that Cbaker19 added, that’s clever but builds a custom property per property you want to track, which adds up fast.

What’s still genuinely missing natively is the flexible cross-record reporting you described (table of company, value, timestamp). Haven’t built that layer.

What I have built is Property Pulse, which solves a related sub-problem: visibility per record. It puts a card on the company (or any object, including custom) that shows the change log for every tracked property with timestamps, prior and current values, who changed it, and source (CRM UI, integration, workflow, import). Filterable by date and source, exportable per property. So if you’re opening individual companies to investigate, you skip the per-property hover-and-click. Doesn’t replace a real cross-record report, but kills the per-record dig.

Also flagging for the admin further down asking about notifications when property history updates: PP doesn’t do that yet either, that’s a separate ask.
