Anyone else come across this issue?
I have a customer who has registered for an event via a HubSpot form, she also registered 2 of her colleagues but it hasn’t registered them, she form filled at 12:17pm, 12:18pm and 12:19pm with 3 different names/emails, which i can see in her activity tab on her contact record
But because she did it from her computer (I assume) it didn’t enrol the other guys or add them to the system, it just added those 3 emails to her contact record
Do we have any way around this? I assume it’s coz HubSpot is too smart and recognised the IP/computer
Help? Thoughts? Ideas?
Hi @LeighL,
You’re correct, that’s what’s happening. You need to enable this settings in the form options tab:
Always create new contact for email address: create a new contact record every time a form is submitted with a new email address, regardless of any matching usertokens with existing contacts from the form submission.
See here: Set up and style forms on HubSpot pages (legacy)
Once enabled, HubSpot will force a contact creation for each newly entered email address.
Best regards
Amazing, thank you Karsten!
This is normal behavior in HubSpot and not related to IP address. HubSpot tracks users through browser cookies, so when multiple form submissions are made from the same browser/session, it associates them with one existing contact instead of creating new ones—even if different emails are entered. To avoid this, each person should submit the form individually using separate devices, browsers, or incognito mode so HubSpot can create separate contact records.
@AParveen5 this is misleading advice, there is a dedicated setting for this - see my reply.
