I’ve been attending the course for taking CRM marketing certificate and in a exercise I’ve being asked to create a blog post. The problem is that with my free profile I can’t do this, do I have to upgrade my profile?

This is (unfortunately) correct. When you navigate to this page, it’s mentioned in the course description: “If you want to become certified, there are additional practical exercises that require a Pro or Enterprise HubSpot subscription.”
With the free CRM, these exercises cannot be completed.

I successfully done the academy exercise but after working on my page you can see here its looking very hard to compete with it.
