Help with mapping fields

Hi, I’m brand new to Hubspot and I’ve made a rookie error on my mapping by the look of it.

My data is simple - mainly names, address and phone numbers.

All my data has mapped across well, but I seemed to have changed a Field Type setting to “Drop down list” on the postcode field.

So basically, when I want to add a new Company and their postcode, it offers me a drop down list of 246 other postcodes, but not allowing me to add a new one - which is vital of course.

I’m currently consiering deleting all the data and starting again, but can anyone advise otherwise?

Hi @pbroadbent,

HubSpot has a default postal code field which is single-line text and cannot be changed to a dropdown:

If you re-import your data and map this postal code field, you should be all set. You can then archive the dropdown postal code field.

Best regards!

Thanks. Yes i noticed the Postal Code field afterwards. I can;t remember why I changed it / deleted it on transfer, but think I need to delete and start again?

@pbroadbent HubSpot will automatically deduplicate contacts upon import when the email address is mapped correctly. You can repeat the import, map the correct postal code field, then archive the dropdown postal code field. Organize, delete, and export properties

OK thanks, so I tried that. I have many duplicates now but I can work them out individually if needed.

The Postal Code is now shown on the main dasboard (under CRM - Companies), but if I click on a Company to see the record, the postal code doesn’t show in the summary down the left side where the other address fields are.

Actually, I think I’ve found the settings to change so I can see each field down the left side, thanks

OK I’ll have a go at that, thanks
