Hello! I am a new HubSpot Admin inheriting a 5 year old HubSpot instance and have run into the same sizeable dilemma several times already.
Given the rising importance of “Context” for AI Tools, I have been largely focusing on data cleanliness in our CRM. Naturally, a 5 year old HubSpot instance (or any for that matter) has inconsistencies with property values and needs bulk manual action to fix. For example, we have 900+ records (custom object) that simply need their custom “status” property backfilled from our external database. We can easily push a sync or conduct an export/import. The issue is, we have a ton of workflows triggered by when a record’s “status” is updated. We would not want these to trigger when completing this backfill. I know there is a way to find all workflows tied to the property… the issue is painstakingly adding this exclusion list to every individual workflow. Then there is the matter of records being added to segments.. which then trigger more workflows.
The bottom line is, HubSpot very easily becomes an impossible tangled web when trying to simply clean up your data.
To solve for this, I would love to see a way to create a Global Automation Exclusion Segment. A way to tag a segment and say “whatever happens to these records, they will not trigger any automation in this HubSpot instance”. Then the updates can be made. And afterwards, we could remove that segment tag and the records will enroll with any updates moving forward.
