There seems to be a glitch with Hubspot forms. For some reason, Hubspot thinks that having two first names on the dependent fields on the form, despite being different options, is a duplicate. The issue with this is we don’t have the a form number linked on HS so we need the first and last name available in order for HS to track it.
Can you share a screenshot / explanation of which dependent fields exactly you’re trying to set up? It sounds like you have a dependency set up that should display the first name in multiple scenarios?
If that’s the case, you can bypass this limitation by not setting up two rules (if property 1 is A, show first name, if property 1 is B, show first name) but one (if property is A or B, show first name). But details matter here, the more context and screenshots you can share of the form and the rules, the better I’ll be able to help.
Thanks for the reply. See attached two screenshots. The first shows the form without the fault, the second with. I’m trying to have it set so that BOTH referred and existing contacts have to input their first name, and last name (although I haven’t put this in, it still delivers the same fault).
In your second screenshot, third-to-last rule, simply select both “Referred Customer” and “Existing Customer” in that same rule. Don’t create two rules.
If I’m understanding this now correctly, you have one form --> I choose whether I am an existing customer or referral customer --> I input my first and last name.
When the data is collected, are both of these cases inputting to the same first and last name fields, but just with different labels (text/question for the field)? If so, than that is not allowed as the system was not designed for your use case. Instead, what you would need to do is make the existing customer/referral customer a button or link prior to the form and then separate this into 2 forms based on that selection/link click.
Sharing your form will be the best option here. This is because we need to know things like if this is a hubspot form, or non-hubspot form, or integration. And things in the code can show us what Hubspot may believe is a duplicate as if you are working with an integration or non-hubspot form and you have 2 first name fields, they should ideally have either different names/ids or be only submitted at the end of the process as a single name/id for typical integrations.
