Error when adjusting team's permissions

Hi - I’m getting the error, “Sorry. This user wasn’t updated” after trying to modify a team member’s permissions and clicking “Save”. I had no issues making permission changes up until today. I’m a Super Admin and the other Super Admin in my team has the same issue. I’ve logged out and logged back in, without improvement. Any ideas?

Hi @RR001

I had a similar issue a while ago and it turned out to be a lack of paid seats, maybe this is the case for you too? I also recently posted on the ideas forum about “Improve error messages in HubSpot”, as I find these “there was an error” messages rather unhelpful - feel free to give it an upvote.

Alternatively, you need to check in with HubSpot support and provide a HAR file, so they can see what the error is.

Cheers

Frank

I don’t believe HS support will help. Does this error message mean anything to you or anyone?

Hi @RR001
This usually occurs when you’re trying to change the permission set of a user to a permission that is higher than your own.
By default, HubSpot will not let you set higher levels of access than the one that you have.
Some of the settings can be quite hidden - I find the “compare access” tool very helpful when identifying this

All the best,
