Enroll associated record action

Status: Idea Submitted

I very frequently need to enroll a company in a different workflow from a ticket/deal workflow. The result is that I have to create a custom property on company object, then from the ticket workflow, update that property, which then is used in a trigger in a new workflow.

Would make wayyyy more sense if I could enroll all associated companies to that ticket in a workflow within an action in the ticket workflow.

I’ve had the same issue and found a slightly more elegant workaround (see below). But still: it would be great if there was a WF action ‘Send associated records from another Object to a WF’ with some filtering options for the associated Object record.

For now, I’m doing this when I want all Contacts of a Company to enrol in a Contact WF after the Company finishes a Company WF.

You’ll need 1 Static Segment, 1 Company and 1 Contact WF.

  1. Create the Company WF and give it a name (let’s say <x>)
  2. Create a Static Segment and name it something like ‘Placeholder Segment for Companies that finished WF <x>’
  3. Add 3 actions to the end of the Company WF:
    1. ‘Add to Static List’ (the one you just created)
    2. ‘Delay’ (for as long as the Contact WF needs to finish)
    3. ‘Remove from Static List’
  4. Then, create the Contact WF with enrolment criterium 'Company (Associated Object) is member of segment (list) ‘Placeholder Segment for Companies that finished WF <x>’

Voilá! That should do the trick.

NB, to the HS Product Managers: ‘Add to Static List’ wasn’t updated to ‘Segment’ in the recent name change
