Emails losing formatting when forwarded

Hello! My team is working on a marketing email. We noticed when it is sent the email looks great, but when it is forwarded to another person the HTML structure seems to get jumbled and formatting is gone. I’ve tested a couple of other emails and it doesn’t seem to be an issue with my ESPs. It seems to be an issue only with HubSpot sends specifically. Any insight is appreciated! Thanks!

Hello @sbyks,

Welcome to the Community and thanks for posting here! :tada:

Email forwarding is known for breaking HTML email layout in general. When an email is forwarded, the receiving email client can reprocess the code and strip out elements used to build responsive layouts.

Heres an older thread that may be able to point you in the right direction: Emails break when forwarded in Gmail

Hey @grajput, @Emedion, @RomyFuchs1 – do you have any suggestions for @sbyks on this?

Thanks in advance!!

Hi @sbyks, Welcome to the community.

If you’re forwarding the email from your inbox after receiving it from HubSpot, the forwarding process may be affecting its formatting. Forwarding a marketing email can sometimes change the email’s HTML structure, which may affect formatting and layout, just as @stassey stated.

This behaviour is not unique to HubSpot and can occur with many HTML marketing emails.

I would recommend sending the email directly from HubSpot rather than forwarding it from your inbox. This may help preserve the intended structure and formatting of the marketing email.

Also, since this is a marketing email built with HubSpot’s HTML structure and styling, it’s designed to be sent through HubSpot’s email marketing tool.
