Email Opens and HubSpot Score

HubSpot Support is still investigating - Though I’d ask community: Can anyone see why scores for ‘email opens’ is not calculating? Something with the rules? There are no other workflows or negative scores that would interfere. There is a second question -- any other “ways” to manage score other than HubSpot Score?

Hey @DSolone8, thanks for reaching out!

Is the “Marketing emails opened” is greater than or equal to 25 and less than or equal to 35" (for 165 points) the final email open scoring criteria you have? If so, technically those two contacts with 36+ email opens no longer fall within those categories (since 36 and 38 are greater than the maximum values in all of your email open scoring criteria). The current scoring setup tells HubSpot that if a contact has 36+ email opens, they should no longer be scored in that area. Try changing to “Marketing emails opened” is greater than or equal to 25" and leave it at that to see if the scoring kicks in.

Honestly though, email opens are no longer a reliable metric like the HubSpot warning says due to the recent iOS 15 privacy updates (more info in this HubSpot blog post). It’s also not a super intentional metric — someone opening an email doesn’t really mean much if they don’t take any action. I recommend focusing on email clicks, high-intent pageviews, and form submissions (contact, subscribe, content download, etc.). Those actions tend to be more telling of a lead’s engagement level and may serve you better/prevent scores from getting skewed. Those are just my thoughts, but I wanted to share them in case they’re helpful!

Hope this helps!!

Hi @DSolone8,

At the top of the score settings, you can test contacts and HubSpot will show you which criteria they meet, which they don’t and why a certain score is the result. Have you checked this for a contact?

Best regards!
