Email Campaign Through Workflow - A/B Test

I want to run 5 emails campaign through automation, so want to know in automated email how does the A/B test works?

For Regular email it is quite straight forward to distribute the sample however for workflow based emailer how will be the winning email defined so that next action email will be sent.

Please advise.

Over time, the emails will gather data, you can then choose a winner between the two variants.
