Editing Drag and Drop email template CSS

Hi
I am putting together an email template using the Drag and drop method via the Marketing > Email > Create email. Previously I have coded it all in the Design Tools section using HubL code, but as we need to have several parts of this email as Smart Modules (for personalisation purposes) Ive decided to try the drag and drop approach.
Now I have built the email as per the designs given to me, but when I check on mobile there are some styles I need to tweak.
So is there a way of creating a drag and drop email and then being able to edit the HTML or at least the <style> tags in the HEAD of the page?
Ive been looking around the WYSIWIG screen but cant see any reference to it nor any reference to mobile display of the template.
Or is this even possible?
If anyone has any info that might help then that would be great.
Thanks
Jools

There are some limitations with the drag and drop. One of which is no access to the head of the document :sad_but_relieved_face:

Tagging @alyssamwilie because she knows much more than I do and may have some thoughts.

If there isn’t an idea already posted, you should post this to the ideas board

@Jools619 As Dennis has mentioned, DnD emails do not currently give us access to the head in any way and I agree that you should post to the Ideas board because having a way to add styles to the head would be a significant improvement to this tool. You could add custom styles to a module but unfortantely Gmail ignores any styles outside of the head so this would only work for non-Gmail clients.

Hi @Jools619,

there might be a way to achieve it! I just created a custom Email Template. Inside the Editor for that is says that the usage of smart content ( for personalisation) is possible. It is not exclusive to the new editor.
When i click on the Design Tab and go to “Actions”, there is an option called “convert into Drag and Drop”.

So in theory you could create that email, add your styles into the head and convert it into DnD.
Though i am not sure if the conversion process gets rid of your styles, but it might be worth a try.

@A_Wessolly Oh, that’s interesting. Seeing it’s in beta it might not be available to everyone right now. I wonder how well it does the conversion with highly customized templates.

@Jools619 As Dennis has referenced, DnD messages don’t presently give us admittance to the head in any capacity and I concur that you should post to the Ideas board in light of the fact that having a method for adding styles to the head would be a huge improvement to this instrument. You could add custom styles to a module however unfortunately Gmail disregards any styles outside of the head so this would just work for non-Gmail clients.

Thanks for the replies.
In the end I copied the code generated from the drag and drop into a HubL file and added editable areas to make them Smart.
A bit long winded approach but does the job for now.
Agree with you that it would be nice to control styles in the drag and drop and hopefully HubSpot add this feature some time in the future as it would make creating emails so much easier.
Thanks again
