I also contacted support on this, since it was weird for me that this wasn’t an option.
It should be great to be able to edit contact fields directly from lists we are viewing.
Other than shortening greatly the amount of effort for changing fields, I would specifically use it in scenarios where I want to align my contact.
A great example is where I have a list of contacts I have not yet sorted by their role in the company (a custom multiple-choice that I use to control my mailing lists), I would love to just go over one by one and change them accordingly, clearing the list.
