Examples - comments feature on contact, company, deal, etc. properties allows for the option to edit after posting.
I’m not sure if the comment should be editable by everyone with access to it or only the user who submitted it, but sometimes you send a comment and forget a mention, or you added a photo that ends up way too large even with the default sizes…
It is really easy to submit a comment before you are ready because all you have to do is hit the enter key.
Since this is not the same behavior as the email you might have just sent from the same dialog box, it can be a bit frustrating.
