Duplicate Contacts - Merge Date

Status: Idea Submitted

When a contact or groups of contacts are merged, the only sign that deduplication took place is the field ‘Merger Contact IDs’ being present.

Unfortunately, this is unhelpful when trying to locate one or a group of contacts that were recently merged when there could be thousands of merged contacts.

The addition of a ‘Merged Date’ field can help us identify what date and time contacts were merged make it possible to find the contacts we nee to reference.
If there’s no way to undo deduplication in any way, having this field present is the least HubSpot can do to help fix any potential duplication errors that may have taken place.

@CapnKorb that’s a good idea!

We are developing Koalify a HubSpot plugin for deduplication, and we’re always open to new ideas to enhance it.

Koalify already creates custom properties in HubSpot, so adding a “Merged Date” feature is totally doable.

I’ve added it to our roadmap, but I’d love to hear more about your needs. Feel free to DM me!

Yes! This is definitely needed! I needed to see what contacts were merged earlier today. There’s no way for me to identify them.

I found a workaround to track this yourself.

:one: Create a custom “date picker” property called “𝘓𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘔𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘦 𝘋𝘢𝘵𝘦”.
:two: Build a workflow to update this property when the “𝘔𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘥 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘐𝘋” is known
:three: Set up a report to track the number of merges over time by including the “𝘔𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘥 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘐𝘋” property and add the “𝘊𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘦𝘴”.
