Dear HubSpot,
We changed our domain for our instance about 5 years ago. But recently discovered a remnant of our old domain within the system.
To recreate the bug > Sales > Quotes > Create Quote > Associate Deal > Select Template > The HubSpot link is prefixed with our OLD domain.
This can’t possibly be a cache issue after 5 years, so it can only be a HubSpot bug. Any help from HubSpot developers would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Hi @ServiceTeam, I hope that you are well!
I understand that on your quotes, the domain is not the right one.
Can you please confirm that on the quote template itself you have updated the domain to be used?
Here is the article about this “Create and share quotes”.
I also wanted to invite a couple of subject matter experts to this conversation: Hi @HubDoPete, @Josh and @ChristinaKay do you have suggestions to help @ServiceTeam, please?
If anybody else has anything to add and/or share, please feel free to join in the conversation
Thank you very much
and have a wonderful day!

Hello, and thank you for the response. Yes I can confirm that we are using the Modern default quote template, and where the dropdown for domain is selected there is only one domain option available, and that is our old domain. The new domain is not an option on the dropdown menu.
I have taken a screenshot for you, but for privacy reasons would prefer not to post it here. But let me know otherwise if it’s helpful. Regardless, I’m sure you know the location of the domain selection anyways.
Let me know if there is a fix in queue for this. Thank you!
Hi @ServiceTeam,
Thank you for the additional information and thank you @HubDoPete for your help!
Can you please confirm that you connected your domain to HubSpot?
For it to appear in the Quote dropdown you need to connect it. Is that the case please?
If anybody else has anything to add and/or share, please feel free to join in the conversation
Thanks and have a great day!

Under ‘Advanced Options’ we have a brand domain setup in HubSpot. And that should be sufficient for this purpose -- given that was the method used for our old domain which is the one appearing when generating quotes. Our old domain was also a brand domain.
See below:
https://olddomain.hubspotpagebuilder.com/cCLIgmRGvDweDK7HlnY
So we have have changed our brand domain over 5 years ago, and the new domain is not being associated for this purpose.
Please advise or report the bug to your developers.
Hi @ServiceTeam,
Thank you for the additional information!
I have sent you a private message. Can you please reply to it so that I can investigate this for you.
Thanks a lot!
Best,
Bérangère
Any updates or ideas on this bug fix?
Hi Service Team!
Are you using one of the three standard quote templates (Basic, Modern, Original) or a custom quote?
Standard Quotes allow you to set the domain during the create-quote UI flow.
Custom Quotes have a domain choice saved in the settings for each custom quote:
- Go to Settings > Quotes and view the tab “Quote Templates”
- On the custom quote choose Actions > Edit
- View the Settings Page
- Set your preferred domain for that quote template
- Press Save
Does that solve it for you?
If not please share more details of what you see in the settings for a custom quote template.

Hi @ServiceTeam - does your Settings > Website > Domains page look something like this, with your new brand domain enabled for all? If not can you share?

Hi there,
Thanks for the response. We are not using a custom template, we are using the Modern template. Attached is a screenshot of our brand domain setup for the NEW domain. See below. Thanks for the communication on this.
Hi again,
Is your brand domain showing up in the list of primary domains as connected?
Under primary domains you should see a list like this:
Website pages: www.newdomain.com connected
Blog: www.newdomain.com connected
Landing Pages: www.newdomain.com connected
Email: www.newdomain.com connected
with green dots next to each.
If not, what do you see?
Or jump on a call so we can take a look together

Hi Pete,
No, we don’t have our domain officially connected, but rather have our domain setup as a brand domain. Is connecting it required for quotes?
Also, why is our old domain being associated, when that was (also) never connected?
Thanks for the help!
Hi again,
That helps a lot in understanding why your domain is not appearing because it is not connected. It sounds like you never hosted your quotes at olddomain.com. Instead you kept using your brand as a subdomain: olddomain.hubspotpagebuilder.com
So do you want to keep hosting on the hubspotpagebuilder.com domain and just change the subdomain from olddbrand.hubspotpagebuilder.com to newbrand.hubspotpagebuilder.com?
That temporary oldbrand subdomain was established based on the original name of your account under settings account default (not brand domain, they just happen to be the same). That’s what HubSpot knew your account as when created, but it’s really just a handy domain for creating and testing any hosted content such as landing pages, blogs, emails and also for quotes.
Your better long-term solution to also make your quotes branded is to activate your domain so that HubSpot can host your quotes on your domain. You don’t have to activate www subdomain, a popular general choice is to use “info”.
I recommend you activate info.newbrand.com. Once connected, your quotes can be published as below, with no mention of hubspotpagebuilder.
https://info.newdomain.com/cCLIgmRGvDweDK7HlnY
It then puts you in control of your brand
I hope that helps!

Hi Pete,
Thanks for the detailed response. Yes, that’s correct, we never hosted or utilized HubSpot’s quoting feature on the olddomain.com or newdomain.com.
Regarding account creation, Actually, we created the account under newdomain.com in 2016 > then changed a few years later to olddomain.com > then back again to the newdomain.com approximately in 2018. So the account creation theory probably isn’t the reason olddomain.com is sticky.
I do understand, however, that the recommendation is to connect our domain. Though, we don’t currently have plans to host pages/ blog etc by HubSpot. So is it required to connect our domain in order for the quoting system to work properly for us?
Yes I still recommend you register the subdomain even if you only publish quotes. In fact if that’s all you plan to use it for, you could register “quote” as your subdomain.
Then your quotes would be published at quote.newdomain.com
It puts you back in control of your brand instead of relying on a HubSpot branded subdomain that you can’t control.
Best
