First, I’m new to the community, so if this is the wrong place, apologies. I’m trying to set up all my database and I have a few questions.
Due to my business model, I need to create new objects (custom objects) and I’m having a few issues with it. I created them through a public app that so far is working so good… but I have a few questions in the import process:
My new objects are: Units and Licenses.
Associations:
Tickets
Companies-------- units---------Licenses
Contacts
1. As you see is that I have the licenses only linked to the units, neither the tickets, companies nor contacts. When I try to import all at the same time, it doesn’t allow at the same time because there are no connected. Is there any way around it?
2. When I import them it (different excel line) Example:
Unit License
1 L1
1 L2
1 L3
I created 3 units 1 with one license each… and it’s not my goal is to create 1 unit 1 with L1,L2 and L3 associated to it. Is there any way to do this?
3. Last but not least: I’ve been looking in how to update this, and I’m not seeing it clear… Do I need to use the record ID? Is there any other way? Is there a way to set the record ID my self? Is it possible to do it with an email? I’m asking because each of My units has their own SN and I would like to use it as a reference.
4. I would like to link each Unit to more than One company. One with label Distributor and one with Label user. Is possible to do that from and import form?
If your custom objects are correctly made in terms of associations then you can take the next steps by importing your units and Licences.
- Hubspot doesn’t allow to import of two objects at the same time either in the same file or in two different files if the association is not set up in between them.
- So for this, I would suggest you first Import Units (Import 2 test record )
- Export both records> From export you will be going to get the record Id.
- Use that record Id as a unique Identifier to associate licenses with units.
-Add this record Id column in the Licenses sheet, with the required properties of Licenses, and import as a single file with 2 objects.
- Now your Units and Licenses are ready with associations. Now same steps will be done for the company and record association.
- Add units record Id as unique Identifier next column in excel sheet will be the domain name and upload the file> Select a "single file with a multiple object "option during upload.
-Now your Units will get associated with the company.
Here is a reference article.Import records for multiple objects
I hope it helps!
Thanks
Hey Alex,
I’m Dave from the hapily support team! If I understand your use case correctly, you’re wanting to associate the licenses with tickets, companies, and contacts correct? We have an app called Associ8 that can help.
It creates a workflow action that associates objects together based on search parameters you set. Check it out here.
Let me know if you have any questions or need help setting up. I’d be happy to hop on a call with you.
Best,
-David Staat
