Hi HubSpot,

I have created 2 versions of CTA for my AB test email. In this case, i have 3 AB test emails that i want to use both these CTA. While i have created tracking URL for both links, my question is whether i need to clone the CTA for each email version so that i am able to track which email CTA performed better. Cuurently my CTA links are without utm parameters. What should i do?

Hi @DGanasan,

Can you explain what exactly you’d like to test? If you want to see how many contacts clicked a button in the two versions of your email, you wouldn’t even necessarily need CTAs from the CTA tool for that. The analysis of the marketing email would tell you how many times the buttons in the email were clicked.

In that sense, you could even use the same CTA in both email versions.

If however, you’d like to be able to easily identify the contacts who clicked a CTA by building lists and reference the CTA click in other tools, two separate CTAs can make sense.

It really depends on what exactly you’d like to achieve.

Hi Karsten,

What i want to test is which is a better performing CTA (i.e who clicked on the most CTA & how many submitted a form from that CTA). Ideally I want compile the list of contacts who clicked the CTA via a list.

Below are my 2 CTA that i am reusing for my 3 email. These CTA have different links as well. Right now, is it possible to identify which email contacts clicked the CTA from the performance page?

Hi @DGanasan,

In that case simply creating separate CTAs is perfectly enough, no need for additional parameters. You’ll be able to create contact-based lists based on the CTA clicks, you’ll see A/B email performance click comparision in the email overview and CTA form submissions in the CTA overview (Menu > Marketing > Lead Capture > CTAs).
