Create reports on Google Ads Events

Hi All,

I’ve connected Google Ads to HubSpot, and as part of the integration, several custom events have been synced into HubSpot. However, I’m struggling to find a way to generate reports on these events within HubSpot.

Does anyone have recommendations or best practices for reporting on custom events in HubSpot?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hey @CDeMares! Thanks for your post.

I’d like to invite @Bryantworks, @Josh, and @RomyFuchs1 to the conversation as they likely have better experience with Google Ads than myself. From what I understand after reviewing the tracking and reporting capabilities of the Google Ads integration, I believe GA events can only be tracked in HubSpot and not reported on.

Best,

Kennedy

Hi @kennedyp thank you for your answer!

In fact I referred to the event we create in HubSpot to sync in Google Ads (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_BZT5X871Y)

Hi @CDeMares
First of all: Which hubs and licences do you use?
With a Markting Hub Pro you can create custom reports: Read more here.
With HubSpot’s custom report builder, you can analyze multiple data sources across HubSpot. The difference between the custom report builder and other types of HubSpot reports is that you can surface data from marketing and sales activities in addition to objects. For example, you can create a report to measure how your target accounts are engaging with your website.
Before you create your custom report you should check the HubSpot report library if you can find some report there.

Hi @CDeMares
So you already found the instructions for how to create ads audiences in HubSpot and maybe also the instructions to target Google ads using HubSpot audiences.

After connecting your Google Ads account to HubSpot, your ad performance data, such as impressions and clicks, will sync with HubSpot. Analyze existing ad campaign data from your connected ad accounts, and drill into the performance of individual ad campaigns.

You can also analyze the performance of ad campaigns from your connected Google ad accounts by creating reports using the custom report builder, as I wrote before.

You can use data provided by each of the ad networks, such as impressions, clicks, and amount spent, and break it down by each ad campaign. You can also report ads attribution in HubSpot.

So, as you can see, there are quite a lot of possibilities to track Google Ads. It really depends on what you want to report. Therefore it is necessary to make a strategy which KPIs you need to track and how they impact your marketing and/or company growth.
Maybe you can start with our blog post “5 Marketing Objectives for 2024” or our “Digital Marketing KPIs - Guide to measure marketing performance”.
If you want to learn more about HubSpot Reporting we also created a blog post “HubSpot Reporting: Best Practices and Things You Must Know” as well as an ebook “Best Practices for Gaining Powerful Insights with HubSpot Reporting”.
