Especially when creating large workflows, sometimes HubSpot or the browser crashes, necessitating multiple smaller workflows to accomoplish one goal.
Sometimes, you have a great branch in a workflow that you’d like to use in another pre-existing workflow, so you have to rebuild it…
There has to be a better way: We need the ability to copy/clone branches of a workflow and then copy/paste them into pre-existing workflows. I could see this working like the Saved Sections part of the Email builder, possible.
This will add great value to HubSpot. No longer will you be stuck re-inventing the wheel with workflows:
When you have good elements from one workflow that another one could benefit from, it will take seconds instead of minutes or hours.
When you have a gigantic workflow, you don’t have to fear an unexpected crash that wipes out the fourth branch of 20 filters: You simply just build one branch in a separate workflow and can copy it into a larger workflow.
This flexibility will give everyone in the system the flexibility to build workflows using the building blocks from other workflows.
This is extremely needed for us as well, sometimes we make updates which require us to add 15+ actions to several workflows and currently we have to make all of those updates one action at a time.
Very happy to see this idea is now being implemented! According to Hubspot Support, it’s currently being rolled out, although they couldn’t give a timeframe on when everyone would have it. When you have the update available, you’ll see this when you open a workflow:
I’m a product manager on the automation team! Thank you so much for this feedback. We’ve just released new funtionality into public beta that allows you to copy an action from one workflow to another. We know there are some limitations as you cannot copy all the actions within a branch, but only 1 action at a time, but this is the first step in improving the process of creating workflows.
You can opt your portal into the beta by going to your portal, clicking on your avatar on the top right, clicking on “Product Updates”, and then finding this public beta and opting in to it. We’ll be releasing live to all portals next week.
On one hand, thanks for implementing this but there’s a big but… I can’t see how this benefits anyone yet - being able to only copy one action (and going through the saga of copying between multiple workflows) is “always” going to be slower than making it from scratch.
There is only value here if we can copy “this action and everything after it”.
Also a heads up for anyone not reading the small print;)
