Owner sync is now available in Data Sync for Microsoft Dynamics, as well as over 50 other Data Sync applications. More on that below!
[Live] Owners will now sync in data sync apps
Owner Sync Field Mapping in Data Sync
What is it?
We’re adding a new default mapping to several data sync apps to allow keeping record owners in sync. Data sync is the native way of syncing HubSpot with your third-party apps.
Why does it matter?
Several objects in the HubSpot CRM can be assigned to what HubSpot calls an owner. An owner is an actual user of your HubSpot account who acts as the sales representative, customer success manager, or account manager, however, you want to call those users.
How does it work?
To check out the new owner field mapping, click the gear icon in the top navigation bar and go to “Settings”. On the Settings sidebar go to “Integrations” > “Connected Apps”. Next, click on the third-party data sync app of your choice. A feature flag announces the field mapping is available. You’ll find the new field mapping on the first tab.
Field Mapping Tab (Pipedrive example)
The following objects will get an Owner mapping:
- Company → Company owner
- Contact → Contact owner
- Deal → Deal owner
For instance, imagine the account Biglytics being owned by colleague Brian in HubSpot. Thanks to owner sync, now we will not only sync Biglytics core properties like address, but it will also check if Brian is a user in the other app(s) it is kept in sync with. If that’s the case, Brian will be assigned that record in the other app too.
Data sync will check if Brian is a user in the other app based on the email address, and what’s even more, the system will proactively keep checking on new colleagues being added in the user databases, so it works really well for growing teams too.
Custom user fields support
As an added bonus, we’re also making it possible in certain apps to map HubSpot Custom user lookup fields. For instance, when there’s an AE owner and an SDR owner defined in the other app, you can map both with HubSpot.
Who gets it?
Owners is a part of the default mapping for around 50 data sync apps, and it is being gradually rolled out over these apps in the next few days. Operations Hub Starter is not required to use this feature.
