Contact Email

Hi there,

I have observed that there are two unique identifiers for Contacts: email and Record ID. My inquiry pertains to how the email address can be added to Contacts in cases where multiple clients share the same email address.

Thank you for your assistance.

Hi @AnnKu,

You’re correct, an email address can only be held by one contact.

The same email address cannot be used across multiple contacts. The email address is the unique identifier in HubSpot. Whenever a form is submitted or data imported, for example, HubSpot deduplicates by email address.

There are some potential workarounds discussed in this thread: Two contacts, 1 email address

One option would also be adding these contacts without email address and pinning a note to the contact record. This note could include the email address or simply state that all contact from the company are sharing the same email address.

Best regards!

Hi Karsten,

Thank you for the suggesions.

  1. The workaround method might not work for us
  2. I couldn’t find the PIN anywhere in Contacts

@AnnKu unfortunately, if you want to have multiple contacts with the same email address in HubSpot, you’ll have to make one of these options work.

  1. Keep email address empty
  2. Modify emails with the + character

There is no way to have the actual same email address on multiple records. It can’t be done.

Regarding the second point, pinning the note should work in all subscriptions: Pin an activity on a record
