Chatbot Editor

Status: Idea Submitted

The current iteration of the Chatbot editor leaves a lot for improvement. We are learning, and definitely don’t get things right the first time, but the current Chatbot Editor is very unforgiving when it comes to making changes.

As the chatflow gets more complex (and more effective), it becomes very difficult to improve. The linear display is difficult to even follow. It should be arrayed as a hierarchy chart where actions can be moved and rearranged, and interim steps and branches can be inserted or deleted.

Our chatbot is just stagnating because we don’t want to mess up what is working and it is far too cumbersome to improve.

I hope a much better editor is coming soon.

Definitely. Two big issues with the current chatbot builder are:

1. If you have a saved action that is used in several dialogue branches, and the action is followed by other actions, changing it in one place will change it in all other dialogue branches, including the changes to the if/then branches of the action. This makes it impossible to efectively use saved actions across many dialogue branches.

2. Managing saved actions is a pain. It’s very difficult to delete saved actions. We need to delete all actions that lead to the one we want to delete, and it may take a lot of effort.
