I can’t find where to change the total value of an MQL. I know how to change the properties to add points to make an MQL but if we want the total value of an MQL to be 50, where do I make that change?

If you’re referring to HubSpot score properties, you can find the instructions here: Understand the lead scoring tool
- In your HubSpot account, click the settings settings icon in the main navigation bar.
- In the left sidebar menu, navigate to Properties.
- Scroll or search for HubSpot score or a custom score property and click the property name.
- Click add Add criteria in the Positive or Negative sections to set criteria that will add or remove points from the score respectively.
If you’re not referring to a score property, please share a bit more context. There aren’t any native features in HubSpot where MQLs are assigned a value so it would be good to understand what exactly you mean.

I know how to change the individual property values but how do I change the total score of an MQL. If I want it at 50 and in a few months want to change it to 75, how is that done?

Any criteria, you would have to add within the score. If you want to award 50 points for a contact being a MQL, add “Lifecycle stage” = MQL and assign 50 points for that. You can always change that number again and the score will reflect that change almost immediately.
If you want a MQLs score to be a flat 50, regarding of any other criteria, then this is not possible without combining all other criteria with the lifecycle stage filter. HubSpot always takes into account all criteria.
I’m still not 100% sure if I understand what you’re referring to. If you could share and annotate a screenshot or give an example, including the exact name of the property or properties you’re referring to, that would help.

I want pretty much the opposite of what you posted. If someone has 50 points based on acitivity, I want Hubspot to automatically mark them as an MQL. If we change things over here and we decide the MQL threshold is 30, I want to be able to change it so anytime someone hits 30 points they automatically get marked as an MQL.
I’m looking to find out 1) what’s the MQL threshold number Hubspot has set and 2) how to change that number.

I appreciate your help with this. I honesty didn’t think it was going to be this difficult.
Here’s the lifecycle stage page where I can add and delete them but I can’t assign a point value so that when someone hits 50 points, they become an MQL.
When I go into the scoring page, there’s nowhere to add that I want an MQL to equal 50. So right now, as far as I know, a person can score up to 1,000 points but not be considered an MQL.
Did you ever find out how to do this? It’s a simple requirement / question and I need the same info. If you managed to work it out can you please let me know. Thanks

I ended up using a two step process. Not sure it’s the right way but it works for me an it was the only way that I could figure out to make it work.
1) Determine the points allotted to individual MQL activies. You do this in “Properties”. 5 points for being in the U.S., 10 points for clicking an email…whatever the criteria you have. You do not set the MQL threshold here. Just the points you want assigned based on actvity and/or demographics.
2) This is the part that was missing. Set up a workflow that says if MQL score equals <insert your MQL threshold number> change the lifecycle stage to MQL. This is where you can change the MQL threshold at any point in time depending on needs.
