Migrating from old scoring properties to the new HubSpot scoring system

Hi,

We recently switched to the new HubSpot scoring system, and I’m running into a challenge during the migration process.

The old scoring properties are no longer updating, but I’d like to recover the scores that were previously calculated in the old system and migrate them into the new model (without impacting our existing lead statuses)

More specifically:

  • Some contacts have already reached our MQL score threshold in the old system.
  • Others haven’t yet reached it but still have valuable scores we’d like to keep as a baseline.

My main concern is: how can I transfer or replicate the old scores into the new scoring system without having contacts counted twice as MQLs (i.e., without triggering workflows again for those who already crossed the threshold)?

If anyone has gone through this migration or found a workaround, I’d really appreciate your insights or best practices

This is unfortunately not possible. The two scoring models behave differently and there isn’t a way (at least that I’m aware of) that would allow you to brute force an old value into a dynamic calculation.

Doesn’t that mean that they’re already marked as MQLs – in that case, what would be the exact issue? A contact couldn’t re-fulfill the MQL criteria, HubSpot lifecycle stages only go forward.

I don’t think it’s advisable to cling to the old scoring and old values. They’re gone, for good, for better or worse. I would strongly recommend setting up a new score that you feel confident about and then only rely on that one.

If your old scores differ too much from the new one that means that the new one isn’t configured correctly yet (or that maybe it’s more accurate than the old one).
