Change background header knowledge base in HubSpot

Do you know how I can change the background image in the header of my knowledge base ?
There seems to have been an update and I can’t modify it anymore. I can only change the background color but not upload an image.
Do you have any tips for me ?

It looks like HubSpot changed the Knowledge Base editor recently.

Now you can only set a background color, not upload an image, unless your theme still supports it.

Go to Settings Website Knowledge Base, then check under Branding. If your theme still has the option, you’ll see a section for Header Background where you can upload an image. If you only see color options there, HubSpot has removed direct image uploads in the correct version.

Yes, same issue here. Have just upgraded our knowledge bases as we have been forced to. This option appears to no longer be available. I’d hardly call it an upgrade, rather a downgrade since they have removed features…

Hi @hvmish and all,
Thanks for reaching out to the HubSpot Community!
I confirm that it is still possible to add a background image to the header.
- On the newer version of the Knowledge Base, from your knowledge base page, you’ll need to go to: configure > theme > header > search bar > image:
Then, for the “Background type”: “color” (is the default), you can change the background type to image.
- On the Legacy Knowledge Base, it’s under “Header” > “Search Bar”. You’ll see a “Background” field that can be set to “Image” which will reveal image fields to upload an image.
I hope this helps!
Have a wonderful day! :sun_with_face:

Hey! I don’t see the option for this any idea why? I’ve looked everywhere to add the background. Is there a way to migrate the look and feel of our old knowledgebase? Weel Onboarding Guide I want it to look exactly like this and find having to recreate it tiresome. Thanks

Hi @LCumming22 and welcome, we are so glad to have you here!
Great questions, thanks for asking the HubSpot Community!
- To edit the background image, click “Search for answers” as shown in your screenshot. Then, you’ll find the image feature on the left-hand side (see attached screenshot).

- And here is an article that might be of interest “Migrate a knowledge base”.
Also, let’s consult with our Top Experts: Hi @TomM2, @evaldas and @PremKannan do you have any insights or best practices to share regarding migrating the look and feel of a knowledge base to help @LCumming22, please?
Have a lovely weekend and thanks so much!

hi @BérangèreL ! Are you on the old knowledgebase product? I don’t have those options and your UI is different. We used to have the option to add the background to the header but in the new version I cannot find it!

Hi @LCumming22, thanks for getting back to me on this!
Looking at the previous screenshot you shared, can you please click on “Search for answers” / on the search bar?
Once you have clicked on the search bar, can you please send me another screenshot of what you see, that way I can check internally.
Usually, when you click on the search bar, the right hand side should change.
Thanks for your collaboration!

Hi @LCumming22, thanks for your patience as I was investigating on this for you!
It seems that we are indeed on a different version. The steps I shared above are for the legacy knowledge base.
On the newer version, from your knowledge base page, you’ll need to go to: configure > theme > header > search bar > image:
Then, for the “Background type”: “color” (is the default), then you can change the background type to image.
I hope this helps!
Have a great day!
