Is there a way to associate contacts to companies in bulk and also associate contacts to deals in bulk? I have the record ID for the contacts, companies, and deals but I do not see how to do this in the import section. I feel you use to could click association and it would associate from there, Has this changed?
Hi @CClark3,
Happy to help here.
It looks like you’re on a Starter subscription. In free and Starter portals, there isn’t any way to bulk associate existing records in the HubSpot user face. This currently has to be done one by one or via the HubSpot API: Accounts Dashboard | HubSpot
Associations can also be established through import, see here: Format import files
To associate existing records, you would first export them, then re-import them while following the structure of the sample files. The export is highly recommended so that you can map the record ID of the company, to avoid the risk of duplicates.
Lastly, in Professional subscriptions, there is a new beta for association workflow actions: Create and manage CRM record associations with workflows
Let me know if you have any follow-up questions!
Hello, and thanks for the insights.
Am on free, and starting, so a newbie question on associating Deals with Companies through export.
I have imported companies and contacts, and want to create deals for a subset of these companies. I downloaded the Deals template, and filled it with deal name, stage, Associated Contact IDs and Associated Company IDs (which I got from exporting my companies and contacts). But when importing back, I can’t map the
Associated Contact IDs and Associated Company IDs, there is no correponding field.
Can you please help ? Am I doing sthg wrong here?
Cheers.
Hey @CClark3,
As was mentioned, there isn’t a way on the Starter edition. However, I just wanted to mention that Insycle can do this. Full disclosure, I work for Insycle.
Insycle can associate any records together in bulk (and automatically both on a schedule and through HubSpot Workflows) and can detect missing associations based on existing. Say a contact is associated with a company, and that company is associated with a deal, but the contact is not associated with the deal. Insycle could detect that and create the association for every field in your database. Here is a recent article on this to show you how it works.
