Hi,
does anyone know if it is possible to BCC specific marketing emails? I know you can add a BCC Compliance email to every email in the setting, but I only want to apply it to specific ones.
Use Case: When we send out incident response emails, these often contain financial information. I want to be able to send a version of every email sent to a complaince email address so that should a customer raise a complaint about the email we have a timestamped copy of the email sent.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Hi @DJohnson4,
As of now, no, unfortunately not. Like you’ve discovered, it’s either on or off entirely. You could request a more nuanced feature from the product team here: https://community.hubspot.com/t5/HubSpot-Ideas/idb-p/HubSpot_Ideas
Until then, your best option is to turn this feature on, then use inbox rules to automatically delete the emails that aren’t relevant.
Best regards
Hey @DJohnson4
If you’re sending these emails via Workflows, you can use the “Send internal marketing email” action as a workaround. This allows you to send a copy of the email to a specific address or to the email associated to a user in a HubSpot User Property. While it’s not a true BCC, it does provide a timestamped copy of the message.
If you’re sending regular marketing emails, the only workaround would be to temporarily enable the relevant setting before sending the specific email, then disable it afterward.
Hope this helps!

Hi @DJohnson4,
Thanks for bringing this to the community!
Looking into this, I’m not aware of a way natively that we could achieve this outside of the feature you’ve described - here -
With this in mind, I’d like to tag in some of our Top Contributors to see if they have any tips and tricks on this!
Hey @danmoyle, @Anton, @evaldas -- Are you aware of anyway we could work around this?
Thanks!

@DJohnson4 you may have already thought about this, but will mention just in case. Similar to what @karstenkoehler suggested - you could also have another mailbox that collects all of these BCC emails and have forwarding rules to the appropriate compliance mailbox based on words in the subject line, such as “Incident report”.
Obviously this will require paying for another mailbox but it’s a little safer than auto-deleting in case someone does not follow the rules for subject line naming in HubSpot that you may use for automated actions.
Thanks for the tag @SamTassey. Looks like you’ve got some help here @DJohnson4 - Here’s how I’d think about this if it were me.
First, if it’s via workflows as @Tzuriel mentioned, I’d simply add the ‘send marketing email intenrally’ step and send it to the marketing address you want. They do have to be a user I believe. This gives you a timestamped copy without enabling global BCC.
If you send them as regular marketing emails (no workflow), you could make your marketing email recipient a Contact and make sure it’s included on all segments you’re emailing.
