Issue:
Currently, when Log All Emails is turned on, email logging is indescriminate on the Deal records -- i.e., emails from ANY associated contact get logged.
At some companies, an employee is included as an associated contact on each deal along with the client (can be very helpful for more sophisticated reporting).
The problem is this: because the employees are on the deal, ANY email between the employee and the deal owner gets logged to the deal -- even if it’s an email about an entirely different deal/client or an unrelated (and perhaps confidential) internal communication.
Manually logging is only a solution when the volume of emails sent between the deal owner and clients is relatively low. Manually logging hundreds of client communications per day, including emails where the deal owner is Cc’d for visibility but usually wouldn’t need to open the email, is much too burdensome.
Idea/Fix:
Association-label-based email logging:
Allow deal owners to specificy which associated contacts’ emails should be logged, based on their association label.
In the Issue example above, you might choose to log all emails which include the associated contact with label “Client” but not log all emails which include the associated contact with label “Service Provider”.
Note that this shouldn’t filter out emails simply because a contact with an excluded association-label is on the email.
For example, emails between only the Deal owner and Service Provider WOULD NOT be logged, but emails with the Deal owner and Service Provider that include the Client WOULD be logged.
The logging rule should just omit emails that do not include a contact(s) with the desired association label for logging.
