Adding Scope to Private/Public Apps

We’ve got a basic HubSpot app for our customers. We’re looking to expand the functionality of this app, which will require adding an OAuth scope.

What is the process for this? Do our users have to re-auth with the additional scope? How can we make this migration as seemless as possible?

As per my experience the process to expand the functionality of HubSpot app and add an OAuth scope involves the following steps:

  1. Update the App Definition.
  2. Submit for Review.
  3. Notify Existing Users.
  4. Handle Re-Authentication.

When you say “handle re-authentication” - will all of our current users’ integrations stop working when we publish?
