Is there any way for me to add default values for deals creation (pre-filled fields)?
Iknow we have this for deal name
But i would love to do this for other deal properties (also custome deal properties).
We have a few properties that will be the same for 95% of the deal we create, and for those to be pre-filled would be very nice.
For exsample a property “Type of sale”, is set to “New customer”.
Hi @HenrikHS,
Unfortunately not, no. Using workflows, you can populate fields after the deal is created but that would be something different. At the time of the creation of the deal, as far as I know this is currently limited to the deal name.
Best regards!
Hi @HenrikHS ,
Just a thought and adding on to Karsten’s reply. Are deals being created Manually or Automatically via a workflow?
You could create a contact workflow that triggers on something relevant to you (or even it could be a ‘Create Deal’ contact property that you manually set to Yes) that automatically creates a new Deal record.
In the workflow steps for ‘Create New Deal Record’ you can specify what properties and values the Deal should have. This way you can auto create deals and pre-fill in certain Deal Properties.
Let me know how you get on!
Thanks,

Thanks for fast reply to both of you!
I understand, would be nice if this was possible in the future
Just a small wish from me!
I like your ide tho, I will consider that for cases where we can have deals created thru workflowes. There is still situations where it makes more sense for us to create them manually, rather then go back to the deal and edit stuff.
I do subscribe to your idea! I think it would be easier and faster to use default values for more than 1 property. And this limitation doesn’t really make any sense.
Hello @HenrikHS,

Set default property values
What is it?
You can now set default values for properties in HubSpot. When creating or editing a property, admins can define a value that will automatically be applied whenever a new record is created.
Default property values are applied consistently across HubSpot—whether records are created manually, through workflows, or via APIs—so commonly used values are automatically set, saving users a step and keeping data consistent.
Why does it matter?
Many teams rely on the same values being set repeatedly when creating records. Without default values, this often leads to repetitive manual entry, inconsistent data, or complex workflows built just to fill in the blanks.
With default property values, you can:
- Save time by pre-filling commonly used values
- Reduce data gaps and “unknown” states
- Eliminate workflow workarounds used solely to initialize data
- Improve overall data quality and consistency from the moment a record is created
This makes record creation faster for end users and data management simpler for admins.
How does it work?
- In your HubSpot account, click the settings icon in the top navigation bar
- In the left sidebar menu, navigate to Properties
- Select an existing property (or create a new property)
- Click the Field type tab
- Set a default value for the property
- Once you’re ready, click Save (or click Create if creating a new property)
Once set:
- The default value is automatically applied to all newly created records
- Users can still change the value during record creation if needed
- The default applies everywhere records are created, including via manual entry, workflows, and APIs
What’s not included
Default values are not currently supported for the following property field types:
- Calculations
- Rollups
- Syncs
- Files
