Currently, when creating a deal in HubSpot, we can associate line items to the deal. However, while adding these line items during deal creation, we can only select the products and quantities — we are not able to edit or input key details (such as amount or custom values) at the same time.
The only workaround right now is:
Create the deal first.
Then go into the associated line items afterwards to adjust the details (e.g. amount).
This extra step makes the process inefficient and is not practical for our internal teams as they have too many deals to catch up with regularly. While it’s possible to create custom properties on the deal itself, that does not solve the need for editing the actual associated line item during creation.
Idea:
It would be very useful to have the ability to create and edit associated objects (like line items) directly within the record creation process. For example, when creating a deal, we should be able to adjust the line item’s amount or other editable fields without having to save the deal first and then navigate back to edit the associated line items.
Why this matters:
- Reduces extra steps and improves workflow efficiency.
- Makes data entry more accurate at the point of creation.
- Provides a smoother experience for sales and operations teams.
This feature would add a lot of long-term value to HubSpot by aligning deal creation with how teams actually work day-to-day. We really hope this idea gets taken into consideration and would be highly appreciated. Thanks!
