Properties

Hi, guys. I'm struggling to change the properties I made on the "Deals" page. For some reason, although I am the super owner of our company's CRM, when I go into the settings and I try to alter the pre-defined properties, I get a notification that says I don't have the authority to change this. I checked with other members in our firm to find out there is no higher-ranking user account to permit this. Any tips? Or something I'm missing?

So if your question is about custom properties and its saying "don't have the authority to change this", then it seems related to access of the property.

However if it is a hubspot deafult proeprty, then we can't alter it. Its locked for all user, as the name it self explanatory hubspot default peroperty.

If it is cutom created property by you then might need to check access restriction for property if in error it was updated.

Also the documentation might help:

https://knowledge.hubspot.com/properties/restrict-view-edit-access-for-properties

https://knowledge.hubspot.com/account-security/limit-access-to-your-hubspot-assets

https://knowledge.hubspot.com/records/assign-access-to-records

If these don't work, then best approach would be reaching out to Hubspot Support as they can get inside the system to check what exactly going on. You can reach them via chat, email, or call, whatever seems easy for you.

Hope this helps, if it does then help the community by marking it as a solution.

Happy HubSpotting.

Thanks & Regards,

Hi @ysuh95,

There are some default properties which cannot be changed (renamed, edited, deleted). This is normal and expected behavior.

As a super admin, you have the highest possible permission in your portal. Whenever you encounter something like this, then it simply is unfortunately not possible.

Other users have requested this before: https://community.hubspot.com/t5/HubSpot-Ideas/Hide-delete-and-edit-default-HubSpot-property-fields/...

These requests submitted to the HubSpot Ideas section of the community are reviewed by the HubSpot product team, based on their popularity and the assumed demand. I'd recommend commenting and upvoting.

You can also help other HubSpot users find this request more easily (and drive traction) by accepting my reply as a solution. I'd appreciate it, too.

Have a great day!

PS. Alternatively, just create your desired properties from scratch.

PPS. If you're trying to edit the deal stage property, this is a common mistake and not possible. You would edit deal stages here: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/object-settings/set-up-and-customize-pipelines
