we want to delete a option listed in our default property in deals seciton, have removed all associated deals to it and asked chat support how to delete the inactive option. It’s not possible, so we are left with a list with about 5 uneeded options. confusing for employees

Care to share which property you are referring to?
Some can be change, some can’t - depending on what the actual property is, how it ties into some HubSpot defaults, and how you are using it - there is the option to archive it (or hide it if you have ENT) - and build your own version of if with the correct options.

The deal stage property reflects the deal stage settings: Set up and manage object pipelines
It can’t be edited directly.
If you want to change deal stages, navigate to Settings → Objects → Deals → Pipelines and make the changes there. The property will update accordingly.
In other words, it’s not that this property can’t be edited because it’s a default property. It’s simply not meant to be edited directly ever.
