In going through our contacts, though I do it on the odd occasion, since it seems to still be very much in its infancy, came across this and had to report it... How in the world does HS report on the below being a "duplicate"???? There is absolutely NOTHING that would indicate that these "contacts" are the same... There's not even a name and the emails are not matches....
HubSpot checks "records' names, email addresses, IP countries, phone numbers, zip codes, and company names" (see here). In this case the similarity of the email address ("barton") seems to be sufficient.
It's machine learning. It'll get better over time 😉

I understand the "machine learning" but if this is the best that can be done, it's better left not even done, or better yet, not even put out for general use. Of the information that they "check", as you listed, makes their machine no smarter than a kindergardener....
